Trichy, Tamil Nadu

Also referred to as ‘Tiruchi’ or ‘Tiruchirappalli’, the city of Trichy has the distinction of being a thriving commercial centre in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The city features a number of industries, educational institutions and religious places. It is where the world famous Rock Fort Temple is located. Things to Do in Trichy

Trichy features numerous religious places. The Rock Fort Temple is the biggest attraction. The temple complex has three temples – the Manikka Vinayakar Temple, the Uchhi Pillayar Koyil and the Taayumaanavar Koyil. Another popular place of worship is the Sriranganathaswamy Temple. The temple, dedicated to Lord Ranganatha (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu), is also the largest in India. Named after an elephant that is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva is the Jambukeswara Temple. The Government Museum (40 km) and the Kudumianmalai Temple are the other major tourist attractions in the city of Trichy.
