The temple, dedicated to Lord Ranganatha (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu), is also the largest in India. Named after an elephant that is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva is the Jambukeswara Temple. The Government Museum (40 km) and the Kudumianmalai Temple are the other major tourist attractions in the city of Trichy.
