About Pondicherry

Pondicherry also known as Puducherry is a union territory of India. Pondicherry is a former French colony. You can easily see several French enclaves, buildings, roads, churches and tourist places here in Puducherry. Pondicherry is also considered an educational hub for southern India as it has one central university, eight medical colleges, ten engineering colleges, three dental colleges, two law colleges, one veterinary college, one agricultural college, ten arts and science colleges and five polytechnic colleges. There are several beautiful tourist places in Pondicherry and thousands of tourists come here to visit this place. French Influence
Pondicherry, a beautiful union territory of India has still evidences of its history as a French colony. The design of the city, buildings, monuments and churches is based on the French and Dutch pattern. The entire town of Pondicherry is divided into two sections known as French Quarter and Indian Quarter. There are several churches and other monuments which show unique French and Dutch architecture in them. So if you are visiting this beautiful city then you will feel that you are in France.

Pondicherry Tourism

Some of the visiting points are situated near Promenade beach like Children's Park and Dupleix Statue, Gandhi statue, Nehru Statue, Le Café, French War Memorial, 19th Century Light House, Bharathi Park, Governors Palace, French War Memorial, Romain Rolland Library, Legislative Assembly, Puducherry Museum, and the French Institute of Pondicherry at Saint-Louis Street.
