Makar Sankranti Festival, Karnataka

The Makar Sankranti festival can also be celebrated each year inside the month of January in Karnataka, Maharashtra and a few parts of Andhra Pradesh. This festival is celebrated as per day of goodwill and friendship around the occasion of the 'ascent' in the sun towards the north (Uttarayana). On this day, the sesame ladoos and sugar drops are distributed being a image to be generous and kind to everybody.
