Purani Haveli Andhra Pradesh

Purani Haveli is one more famous tourist attractions in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This old Haveli is situated in the south eastern part of Afzal Gunj Bridge near Dewandevdi. This old Haveli is famous and known for its past architecture and historical importance. This haveli was also constructed under the rule of Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah who has gifted several other famous monuments to this region. Purani means Old and this Purani haveli is the fine example of western architecture of 18th century European art and sculpture. Although this Purani Haveli was constructed by Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah in 18th century but in 19th century, Nawab Mir Mahboob Alikhan Bahadur constructed this building again and Nawab Mir Osam Ali Khan Bahadur again added a new glory to this haveli by adding court yard.

Purani Haveli was the official residence of the Nizam and once it was also known by the name of Haveli Khadeem, which means old mansion. This beautiful old haveli is in U shape with two oblong wings running paralled to each other. The residential palace of this haveli is located perpendicularly in the middle. There is a unique feature of this Purani Haveli and that is the world's longest wardrode, built in two levels with a hand-cranked wooden lift in place. Nizam's museum is also located in the palace which houses some of the unique old handicraft and things. This museum is dedicated to the last Nizam of Hyderabad.
